Eligible Applicants

1. Non-Chinese citizens in good health.
2. Applicants for a master’s program in China must have a bachelor’s degree. Scholarship students must be 35 or under and self-supporting students must be 45 or under.

Application Time

First Application Period:Chinese Government Scholarship, Self-funded: December 1, 2024 to February 20, 2025
Second application period:Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship, Self-funded: March 1, 2025 to April 10, 2025

Application Materials

Note: You need to upload the electronic application materials in the application system. After admission, please bring the original paper application materials for verification when you report to the university. If you fail to submit the materials or they do not meet requirements, you will be rejected.
1. Personal information page of your passport (valid until January 30, 2026 and beyond);
2. Bachelor's graduation certificate and degree certificate;
For a certificate in a language other than Chinese and English, the original notarized copy of the Chinese or English translation must be provided. The notarized copy must be issued by a Chinese embassy or consulate abroad, or a foreign embassy or consulate in China;
The original graduation certificate issued by the school of a new graduate needs to be provided. Upon admission, you need to bring the original graduation certificate for verification during registration;
3. Original or notarized transcripts of all courses in the bachelor's degree.
For a transcript in a language other than Chinese and English, the original notarized copy of the Chinese or English translation must be provided. The notarized copy must be issued by a Chinese embassy or consulate abroad, or a foreign embassy or consulate in China;
4. Proof of language proficiency;
A certificate of competence in English. (A score of 80 and above in TOEFL iBT; or a minimum overall band of 6.0 in IELTS; or materials that proves candidates have taken a degree program of which the medium of instruction or working language was English)
5. Personal statement;
Please write the introduction according to the personal statement (Attachment 1)template in the teaching language of the professional program (for example, the statement for a program taught in Chinese should be written in Chinese, and the statement for a program taught in English should be written in English).
6. Two letters of recommendation;
Original letters of recommendation from two associate professors or scholars with corresponding titles or above (the contact information of the recommender must be given).
7. Physical examination form for foreigners (within six months) or a current valid Chinese visa.
8. Certificate of payment of registration fee;
When remitting through an offline bank or online bank, you need to submit a photo of the remittance voucher or a screenshot of online remittance.
This is not required for remittance through the online application system. Payment can be made in the system upon submission of the application.
Applicants who have not paid the registration fee will not be considered.
9. Other application materials.
Examples include acceptance letter for international student, award certificates, and admission notices of other universities.
We may require applicants to provide additional materials if necessary.
All application materials must be uploaded when applying online, and materials without corresponding items should be uploaded to the “Supplementary Materials” column.
Failure to submit application materials that meet the above requirements within the specified time frame will be considered as an unsuccessful application.

Application Procedure

Online application
Please log in to Tongji University Online Registration System (http://study-info.tongji.edu.cn), register and complete the online application, and upload the application materials. The online application fee is RMB600, which is non-refundable.
Note: Please do not mail or email the application materials as they will not be accepted.

1. Online payment in the online application system;
2. For an offline bank or online bank remittance, the remittance voucher needs to be uploaded in the application system.

* Tuition, accidental injury and hospitalization insurance premiums (RMB800 /year) should be paid during registration at the school.
Admission Process:

1. Tongji University adopts a material review system for admission and organizes written examinations or interviews for each college. We perform evaluations according to the overall capabilities of the students and select the best candidates for admission.
2. After submitting the application, the applicant must regularly check the information and application status in the application system and complete each step strictly as prompted. If the follow-up process is delayed due to failure to check a notification in time, the applicant is responsible for the delay.
3.Please pay attention to your application status in the application system. If you are admitted, your application status will change to admitted. The admission notification and related materials will be sent after two weeks.
4. You can visit the “Orientation” column of the school website for admission instructions.

Scholarship

(1) Chinese Government Scholarship
1. Bilateral Program
The Ministry of Education of China provides full or partial scholarships in accordance with educational cooperation and exchange agreements or MOUs signed with relevant governments, institutions, schools, and international organizations. The application time of each country is different (generally between November and March). Please consult the Chinese embassy (consulate) abroad and relevant departments. The admission documents will be issued to the applicant by the scholarship accepting institution (relevant domestic departments and Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad).

2. College Independent Enrollment Project
This is provided by the Ministry of Education of China and is used by China's high-level universities to independently enroll international master and doctoral students.
(2) Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship
Established by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, this is a subsidy for outstanding foreign students to receive higher education in Shanghai universities.
Scholarship application result: This can be queried through the online application system of Tongji University for international students ( http://study-info.tongji.edu.cn) or the "Notice" column on the website of Tongji University International Student Office ( http://study.tongji.edu.cn/).

* Chinese Government Scholarship and Shanghai Government Scholarship are acceptable, but both of the scholarships does NOT fully cover the tuition of Tongji Full-Time MBA program, applicants will have to pay the balance(129,000 RMB/Year) by themselves.

(3) Tongji Full-time MBA “Belt and Road” Development Scholarship
1) In order to continue to promote the international development of the School and support the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, the School of Economics and Management at Tongji University (Tongji SEM) has been encouraging and attracting outstanding international students from countries along the route to join the School through various channels. Their participation will also help other students deepen their understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The establishment of “Belt and Road” Development Scholarship is made by Tongji SEM.

2) Scholarship Details
Each scholarship awardee will receive a scholarship of RMB 80,000. * This scholarship cannot be combined with GMAT scholarship.

3) Scholarship Eligibility
To apply for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:
1. Applicant is an international student applying for Tongji Full-time MBA program and meets the program requirements;
2. Applicant is from a developing country, and preferably from a country that has signed cooperation documents with China to jointly build the “Belt and Road Initiative” (see the Belt and Road Network website www.yidaiyilu.gov.cn for the list of countries);
3. Applicants should show demonstrated need for financial aid.

4) Scholarship Application Process
The scholarship review committee will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on the information provided by the applicants, and select applicants who meet the application requirements, and award them the scholarship.
This scholarship will be awarded after the applicant is officially admitted to Tongji Full-time MBA program (the recipient will be awarded RMB 40,000 at the start of each year with total amount of RMB 80,000 in two years ).

(4) Tongji Full-time MBA GMAT Scholarship
For the GMAT scholarship, it is awarded on the basis of the applicants’ outstanding achievement in their GMAT examination. Enrolled students (2025 intake) who obtain a GMAT score of 620 and above are eligible for the scholarship with the amount ranging from 30,000 RMB to 40% tuition fee. And the details as below:
• The GMAT score of 720 (including 720) and above ; The GMAT Focus Edition score of 665 or above will be awarded 40% of the tuition fee;
• The GMAT score between 670 (including 670) and 720 ; The GMAT Focus Edition score between 625 (including 625) and 655(including 655) will be awarded 20% of the tuition fee;
• The GMAT score between 620 (including 620) and 670; The GMAT Focus Edition score between 575 (including 575) will be awarded 30,000 RMB scholarship.
When apply for the GMAT scholarship, you need to send your score report to us (The GMAT Institution Code of Tongji Full-time MBA is KXQ-WQ-60); Score reports also need to send to tongjimba@tongji.edu.cn before 1st, Sept. of the intake year.
This scholarship will be awarded after the applicant is officially admitted to Tongji Full-time MBA program (This scholarship will be spread to the student account over two years.).
* This scholarship cannot be combined with “Belt and Road” Development Scholarship.

Other Information

1. Enrollment will take place in late August - early September 2025, depending on the content of the acceptance letter from Tongji University. Accepted candidates must go to a Chinese embassy (consulate) abroad to apply for a study visa, with their passport, Tongji University Admission Notice, and the Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China (JW202/201). The candidates must take the above-mentioned materials and go to Tongji University to apply for admission at the time specified in the notice, and apply for a residence certificate in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of Shanghai Public Security Bureau.
2. Only students who pass all examinations of their degree course in the first academic year of their master's degree can obtain the qualification for preparing papers. Those who fail three courses of the degree course examinations will be expelled.
3. 3. Accommodation: Please pay attention to the International Students Office's website. In principle, full scholarship students will be arranged for accommodation by the university, but the on-campus dormitory rooms are limited, so if the on-campus dormitory is fully booked, students (including full scholarship students) are requested to arrange their own accommodation during the study period.
